MICHAEL GYNGELL - Artistic Director
Michael is a actor, writer and director. He is currently Head of MT at Performers College and recently directed the national tour of ‘When Harry Met Sally.’
As an actor he has appeared in Fame (Shaftesbury Theatre),One Touch of Venus (Kings Head), ART (Whitehall Theatre.), Peter Pan and Poppy (RSC, Barbican), The Rink (Cambridge), Exclusive! (Strand), Doctor Dolittle (Apollo), Oh Kay! (Barbican), Listen to the Wind (Kings Head), Starlight Express (Apollo Victoria) West Side Story (Her Majestys).
He co-wrote the stage adaptation of Summer Holiday! (published by Josef Weinbergers) and has written Double Top for Valentine Productions / BBC Wales, Serena for SMG and the book for Close Encounters, a new musical which was performed at Century City, Los Angeles.
Michael has also just written and directed Cinderella at the Cambridge Arts Theatre. He also directed three No1 Tours of acclaimed comedy ‘The Play What I Wrote’. He was Associate Director on the original production at the Wyndhams Theatre and the UK tour of Godspell, which both originated from the Liverpool Playhouse.
He has also directed Bumpy Ride at Greenwich Theatre, Cinderella at the Hawth Crawley, and Summer Holiday! at the Theatre Royal, Plymouth.
Michael was Literary Manager for David Pugh Ltd from 1999-2001 and is a Writer Associate of Mercury Musicals Development.
He has taught at Sylvia Young Theatre School, London School of Musical Theatre and Mountview Academy. |
